Review(Drama): Timeslip Dr. Jin

Well, I really couldn’t NOT watch this drama! I mean, you’ve got Kim Jaejoong in here. JAEJOONG. Yup, DBSK’s Jaejoong, JYJ’s Jaejoong. Yeah, it was impossible for me to ignore it. And its not even just him in this drama, you’ve got Song Seung Hoon with the lead role. I loved him in My Princess and he’s sure to impress again. The female role is with Park Min Young and after Sungkyunkwan Scandal and City Hunter, I’ve really grown accustomed to her acting, although my only issue with her is that all the roles she plays cry a lot and it makes her acting a bit monotonous.

I guess time travel is the new ‘thing’ in K-dramas right now, (Rooftop Prince anyone?) The cross-dressing era is finally coming to an end :P But yes, this drama revolves around the time travel Dr. Jin Hyeok goes through from the present era to the Joseon era where he’s first thought to be a criminal but proves his innocence via his advanced medical skills(owing to him being from the future). I find this extremely interesting, the way he’s taking care of patients in this era with primitive tools and such. Although it does get a bit unrealistic with the hammer he uses to make a hole in the skull for the first brain surgery of the Joseon era.

Well I’m four episodes down so far and I’m itching for the main story to be set in motion. Jin has time travelled and everyone now appreciates his medic skills, while he’s super confused about how he feels towards his fiance’s Joseon era doppelganger Hong Young Rae (Park Min Young) who is always helping him take care of patients.

You might be wondering where Jaejoong is in all this. Well he’s sort of a officer of a decent rank as he deals with gangs, city trouble and such. On top of that, he’s engaged to Young Rae, and he really loves her. From time to time, he does get annoyed when she’s always running after Jin to help him. You kinda feel sorry for him at times though, cause he’s an illegitimate child and people always try to make him “feel his place”. I hate to say it, but he’s the second guy in this drama. You know, the one who’s always going to love the girl but in the end he won’t get the girl (unless Jin time travels back, I guess). I havent read the manga, so I can’t say much about that.

All in all, it’s an extremely interesting drama and the acting is impressive. Although it is taking a while for the plot to reveal itself, I think it’s going to be a really great drama. After all you’ve got an amazing cast, you’ve got all the Jaejoong fans watching it, it’s bound to be a hit! Be sure to check it out and tell us what you think!
